1. LEAVE MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES

At Square 1 Group, anything worth doing must always lead with the intention to overdeliver. To overdeliver, you must differentiate yourself, which means to be a little unconventional and innovative. You must go above and beyond what expected for your colleagues, vendors, clients, community, investors – with everyone.  Whatever you do must have an emotional impact to the receiver. We do not want to be an average company. We want to deliver a memorable experience during every interaction. 

Ask yourself: What are things I can improve on in work or attitude to help leave a memorable experience? Have you over delivered on anyone yet today?

2. LEARN AND GROW YOUR SUPERPOWER

Square 1 Group understands that each individual all has his or her own goals and aspirations. In order to reach those goals, you need to develop your ’super power’ because we all need to change who we are to become the person we need to be. We must all empower and support each other to help encourage accountability and change. In order to evolve as a company, we must accept change individually. Evolution is a part of our individuality and our company’s culture.

Ask yourself: What are your goals and how do you need to change to reach them? Do you encourage and drive change? How do you encourage your peers and clients to evolve? Are you empowering your team to change and grow to improve?

Sample behaviors include:

  • Experiment with ideas

3. DO MORE WITH LESS

Square 1 Group’s foundation is rooted in the startup formula. That formula is to be as resourceful as possible and to put in the hard work to get the job done. In order to stay ahead of the competition we need to continuously innovate and improve our systems and processes. We use mistakes as learning opportunities and must always have a sense of urgency. “Good enough” is the enemy of great and our goal is to be a great company.

Ask yourself: What can I do to be more effective and efficient without having to request for additional resources? How can my responsibilities become more efficient? How can the company as a whole become more efficient?

4. BE WEIRD

Square 1 Group does not want to be a company that feels corporate and boring. We want to be able to be fun and humorous in our daily work. We want everyone to bring out a touch of weirdness to make life and our day-to-day a little more interesting for everyone. We want our company to be unique and have a personality. We embrace diversity and each person’s individuality. Everyone has a little quirk. Feel free to express it at work!

Ask yourself: What can I do to be a little weird to differentiate ourselves from everyone else? What can we do to be fun and a little weird?

5. BE HUMBLE

While we continue to grow and evolve, we must always be respectful to everyone. While we celebrate individual, team and company success, we are not arrogant nor do we malign others. We must carry ourselves with quiet confidence and let our character, clients and accolades speak on our behalf.

Are you quiet with your accomplishments? Are you humble when talking about your accomplishments?

  • Respect everyone
  • Listen and ask more questions than wanting to be heard
