As an entrepreneur, you want to grow your real estate business, and because of that, you probably have a bunch of items that you really need to do and have this laundry list of things that you need to be doing in order to really grow and scale your real estate business.
I experienced this first hand with my business, I work with great real estate agents providing great real estate web design and marketing strategies to help them grow their business. And much like you, the things that I needed to do became so overwhelming and were causing me anxiety.
There is a process to systematize your understanding of what you need to be tackling first in order to really start scaling and moving the needle for your real estate business. I got to give a quick attribution and shout out to one of my mentors, Taki Moore. He provided me and my team with this super-simple framework that helped us, which, I’m about to share with you today.
I think it’s going to resonate really well with you because many of you guys are probably working on a hundred different projects or what we like to call shiny objects, all at the same time instead of starting to prioritize the tasks that are really going to be moving the needle. I want to explain this better with an analogy, the fable about the tortoise and the hare. To quickly recap the tortoise and the hare story, they were racing and long story short, the tortoise wins the race because the hair was too busy trying to do too much.

The Problem
This applies to your real estate businesses right now, because chances are you have a million and one things that you’re trying to do. You guys are trying to master social media. You guys want to be doing email marketing campaigns. You guys want to be throwing events. You guys may be cold calling and you want to be spending some time on the phones and talking to people. Plus the fact that you guys also need to be going out there showing property, or maybe prepping homes for a sale.Â
This is analogous to the tortoise and the hare because when you have all this stuff going on, you end up losing the race. When you have too much stuff going on, you eventually burn out. And that is not what we want for you. I want you to start really looking at your business through the lens of the tortoise. You need to start playing the long game.
You need to start working incrementally on tasks one by one and make sure that they’re done correctly. And as soon as that one task or one main task is completed, or that main project is completed, then you take a pause, re-prioritize, and then you move on to the next big task.
Focusing on the next big task allows you to slow down and focus on one thing, because at the end of the day if you’re in this real estate game for the long run, you do not want to spend your first 3, 6, 9 or 12 months working on a hundred of different items and just burn out and feel exhausted after one year. When realistically you probably want to be in this real estate game for multiple years, maybe multiple decades.

The Solution
So we want to go slow and methodical, and that’s really, what’s going to win this race. The big easy – a super-simple framework that you can use when it comes to deciding what you need to be working on at any given point in time.
The idea of the big easy is to take all of your tasks, everything that you want to be working on, and start prioritizing and plotting them. The way that this framework works, it’s really kind of looking at things through a very simple X-Y graph. On the X-axis we have ease, and on the Y-axis we have opportunity.Â
We want to be focusing our time and our effort, on the tasks that yield us the highest return on our time or the highest opportunity and the ones that we can complete quickly or the easiest. So in this particular case, the big easy or the tasks we really should be focusing on are centralized in that top right-hand corner. Everything else should be kind of either taken off the list or put off until these main tasks are completed.
